| Spaces available for upcoming pre-apprenticeship training program |

Tidewater Builders Association’s Building Trades Academy is seeking low-income youth (ages 18 and older) to take advantage of funding that provides FREE training starting July 16, 2012.
The program, which will run from July 16 to Sept. 21, is a 10-week training course that allows students to gain occupational skills training in building and facilities maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry and heating ventilation/air conditioning. Upon completion of the program, which involves classroom instruction and valuable hands-on experience, each student will receive a certificate of completion from Home Builders Institute, CFC certification, Flagger certification, as well as receive job placement assistance.
Participants must have a valid driver’s license and be felony free.
Since its inception in 1978, BTA has been providing training in the construction trades to more than 4,000 students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Applications for interested individuals will be accepted every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Building Trades Academy, which is located behind Tidewater Builders Association, 2117 Smith Ave., Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
