National garden show-within-a-show to take place at Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show
The Tidewater District of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. will host a gardening show and competition during the Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show, Feb. 15-17, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
“Stop and See the Flowers” is the theme for this event, which is the largest garden show produced by federated garden club groups in the state of Virginia and will feature designs and horticulture grown by garden club members from all over the Tidewater District.
Presentations will be divided into three divisions and judged by nationally accredited flower show judges of the National Garden Clubs. Ribbons and monetary prizes will be awarded to participants.
The design division will consist of floral arrangements hanging in frames and displayed on tables; miniature and small designs displayed in boxes, and functional table displays.
The horticulture division will consist of displays of botanically named garden plant materials to include dwarf evergreens, potted herbs, blooming outdoor plants, spring bulbs, and groundcovers.
The educational division will feature displays of materials used to promote the goals of the National Garden Club and to educate audiences on garden design, preservation and conservation.
The Tidewater District of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. includes 45 garden clubs, from Gloucester to the North Carolina line, from Suffolk to the oceanfront, with approximately 1000 members.
